I am excited and pleased to now offer LightForce Ex Class IV Laser therapy for patients. This is therapeutic laser not surgical laser as used in eye surgery. That said Class IV Laser is powerful in that this light therapy can penetrate 9 cm. Class IV is 30 times more powerful than it’s predecessor the Class III.
It has only been two months now since incorporating laser into my practice. I am very impressed with the results in general. The following are a few different cases as examples.
One is of a middle aged fit seasoned cyclist. She had had a ride more vigorous than usual that had left her with a repetitive knee strain. Her regular commute was now painful and she avoided hills as this significantly worsened the knee pain. Her condition was not improving and 3 weeks had now gone by.
Two LightForce Ex laser treatments were applied over 3 days and accompanied ART®️(Active Release Technique). 100% recovery was reported after this and no further treatment was needed.
The second case was of a mid 20 year old male suffering from right wrist pain of 5 weeks duration. The diagnosis was a repetitive injury likely attributed to computer/iPhone use. In this case treatment delivered was primarily laser over 5 sessions.
In this case temporary improvement was experienced after the first session. He reported sustained continued improvement after the 2nd treatment. After the fifth no pain was remaining and no further treatment rendered.
A third patient that comes to mind is of a female in her mid forties having had a double mastectomy 3 months earlier. She was suffering from a hard painful loonie sized lump in her left 4-5th rib area. This was accompanied with tight pressure like discomfort globally in the corresponding chest. Her surgeon had explained it was an unusual result of the surgery. She had been referred for the laser treatment from her massage therapist who had not seen change from the soft tissue therapy.
After the first session she noted a mild softening of the hard lump. She received a total of 4 treatments over 11 days with continued improvement throughout. Treatment finished at this point with her saying, “…the laser treatment made a huge improvement…”. Her treatment also included ART.
